Cancer is a disease caused by unregulated growth of abnormal cells from the site of the origin (primary tumour) and can spread to other healthy organs to form secondary tumours via the blood and lymph vessels. This is known as metastasis. After heart disease, it is the second cause of high mortality rates worldwide.
There are more than 200 types of cancers and there are valuable information that can be found on the National Health Service, Cancer Research UK, MacMillan Cancer Support, Blood Cancer UK, Breast Cancer Now, Prostate Cancer UK and many other cancer charities.
However, the aim of Farah With Me Cancer project is to help raise more awareness and fundraise for cancer charities that do valuable research to make significant progress in understanding mechanisms that cause cancer and this in turn will improve diagnosis and treatments of various types of cancer.
